A lovely sixteenth plate tintype photo of a young boy! It measures 1.75"x2" (with case). This size is often referred to as a Gem type. They are rather rare, as the majority were ninth plate.
The photo is under glass with period original mat, brass frame, and original case. However, as you can see.... the case has split in two and the frame has come loose.
Still a remarkable piece and wonderful addition to any collection.
